Israel launched early-morning rocket strikes against Syrian army and Shia militia positions on the outskirts of Damascus on Wednesday. The death toll from the Israeli attack rose to nine, according to Al Hadath, a broadcaster from Dubai.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Arab republic's army command told the SANA news agency that four soldiers were killed and three others wounded in the Israeli attack, and there was also material damage.
