Mishustin: creation of new routes in Karabakh is in the interest of the whole South Caucasus

Trilateral agreements on Nagorno-Karabakh have opened new opportunities for the development of the region in the interests of all South Caucasus states. This opinion was voiced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov on Thursday.


The head of the Russian cabinet noted that joint statements by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh "have opened opportunities for a more comprehensive development of the region."

 


"I am convinced that unblocking economic and transport ties and creating new infrastructure routes meets <...> the interests of all South Caucasus states," Mishustin said.


The Prime Minister stressed that Russia cherishes longstanding partnership relations with Azerbaijan and considers it necessary to bring them to a new level.


"We cherish our long-standing partnership relations with friendly Azerbaijan," he pointed out. - "We consider it important to bring them to a higher level and fill them with new content".


Mishustin drew attention to the fact that this is his colleague's first official visit to Russia as Prime Minister. "I am convinced that our forthcoming talks will be constructive, detailed, will give a new impetus to our cooperation," he added.

 


The Russian Prime Minister asked his interlocutor to pass on warm greetings and best wishes to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan from Russian President Vladimir Putin and from him personally.
