Muslim Leaders Extend Congratulations to Putin on Re-election

Leaders from several Muslim countries have congratulated incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin on his victory in the March 15-17 presidential election. Notably, Putin's re-election was the central topic of telephone conversations between him and President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Zhaparov of the  Republic of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of the Republic of Tajikistan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These leaders warmly congratulated Putin on his resounding victory in the presidential election, highlighting the broad support from citizens for his domestic and foreign policies, as well as the high voter turnout during the election. They also wished him continued success in his duties as head of state. The discussions also covered bilateral relations development and key international issues.

 

Furthermore, on the initiative of the Turkish side, Putin engaged in a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan warmly congratulated Putin on his convincing victory in the presidential election in the Russian Federation and expressed wishes for further successes in his state activities benefiting the Russian people. Both sides expressed mutual willingness to deepen cooperation for the advancement of multifaceted Russian-Turkish relations. They also discussed matters related to enhancing international stability and security, including in the Black Sea region. In turn, Putin congratulated Erdogan and all Muslims in Turkey on the holy month of Ramadan, with an agreement to continue dialogues in various formats.

 

During a telephone conversation, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia, warmly congratulated Vladimir Putin on his convincing victory in the Russian presidential election. Both sides expressed readiness to further develop friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia. They confirmed the effectiveness of coordination between the two countries within the OPEC+ format. Putin conveyed his best wishes to the King of Saudi Arabia and congratulated the kingdom's people on the holy month of Ramadan.

 

Libya's Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed al-Menfi also extended congratulations to Vladimir Putin on his victory in the presidential election. The Russian embassy in Tripoli reported that al-Menfi emphasized the special friendly nature of Russian-Libyan relations in his congratulations.

 

Additionally, King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his desire to continue cooperation with Russia during a conversation with Putin. He conveyed his sincere congratulations to Putin, wishing him success in fulfilling his presidential duties and achieving further progress, development, and prosperity for the Russian people. The king praised the close bilateral relations between Bahrain and Russia and emphasized his commitment to enhancing these historic ties and advancing joint cooperation areas.

 

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in a statement published by the WAFA news agency, congratulated Vladimir Putin on his re-election as President of the Russian Federation. Abbas wished Putin success in fulfilling his obligations and achieving the goals facing the Russian people. He expressed pride in the friendly relations between Palestine and Russia and deep gratitude to Moscow for supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.

 

Furthermore, Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré expressed hope that Putin's re-election would strengthen the excellent relations between Burkina Faso and Russia. He congratulated Putin on his re-election and wished him success, expressing wishes for the further enhancement of bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries' peoples.


The Russian presidential elections, held from March 15 to 17, marked the first time they were conducted over three days and utilized remote electronic voting, available in approximately one-third of the country's regions. According to the Central election commission, after processing 100% of the protocols, Putin secured 87.28% of the vote. The election witnessed a record turnout of 77.44%, marking a milestone in Russia's modern history.
