Palestine congratulates the Russian Federation on registering the first coronavirus vaccine and hopes to become one of the first countries to receive it, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in a telegram sent to Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, the WAFA news agency reports.
"We congratulate you, Mr. President, and we would like to highly appreciate the efforts of the Russian scientists and laboratories and your government to achieve this unique scientific breakthrough," the message reads. "Wish <...> great success to a friendly country and we look forward < ... > to our people benefiting from this vaccine, and we hope that Palestine will be one of the first countries <...> especially since Russia has already provided us with assistance and medical equipment to fight this dangerous pandemic."
President Putin on Tuesday announced that Russia was the first in the world to register a coronavirus vaccine. It is the development of the Research center for epidemiology and microbiology named after Gamalei of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, which passed clinical trials in June-July. He also said that one of his daughters had been vaccinated and was doing well.
