Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev held a meeting with Sultan al Nuamani, Minister of the Sultan's Chancellery, during his working visit to Oman, as reported by Oman News Agency.
The discussions between the two parties revolved around the current state of relations between Russia and Oman and strategies for their future development. Additionally, Patrushev and al Nuamani explored topics of mutual interest during their talks.
The Security Council apparatus press service had previously announced Patrushev's visit to Oman, which included planned security consultations involving representatives from both countries.
In March 2023, marking the first high-level contacts between Russia and Oman since diplomatic relations were established in 1985, a telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. The conversation, initiated by the Omani side, encompassed a comprehensive review of Russian-Omani cooperation's current status and its future prospects, along with an exchange of views on the Middle East region's prevailing situation. In July 2023, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Omani counterpart held discussions in Moscow, during which Lavrov extended an invitation for the Sultan of Oman to visit Russia.
