The Kremlin expects that Saudi Arabia will not act against Russia, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday, commenting on US President Joe Biden's upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia.

"We certainly hope that the alignment and development of Riyadh's relations with other world capitals will not be directed against us in any way," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Speaking about whether US "oil diplomacy" poses a threat to Russian energy exports and prices, Peskov recalled that Russia "is within the framework of the OPEC+ agreements." "We appreciate the work we are able to do with our partners, including leading partners such as Saudi Arabia," he stressed. "We appreciate our interests, our relationships and our engagement with Riyadh," the Kremlin spokesman assured.

Biden on Tuesday began his first Middle East tour since taking office, visiting Israel, the West Bank and Saudi Arabia from July 13 to 16. The American leader has made it clear that he considers the trip important in terms of confronting Russia and China and intends to push Arab states to increase oil production in order to reduce its cost.
