Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have not had any contact in the past few days, but the Syrian President has received wishes for his recovery, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, told reporters.
"There has been no contact in the past days," he said when asked whether Putin had been in telephone contact with his Syrian counterpart after he began recovering from a coronavirus infection. "Certainly, Mr. Assad was conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery from the Russian president," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife, Asma, who was previously diagnosed with the coronavirus, are recovering and feeling well, Syrian Ambassador Riyad Haddad told TASS on Wednesday.
On March 8, the Syrian president's office informed that al-Assad and his wife are under home quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus. Their condition is stable and they will perform their duties as usual during the quarantine, which will last two to three weeks, the office said at the time.
