Putin Highlights Turkmenistan's Neutrality as Key Factor in Central Asia's Security

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the significance of Turkmenistan's neutral status as a key element of security in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea in his congratulatory message to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the country's Independence Day. This information is cited in the official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan.

 

"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of Turkmenistan's Independence Day. Your country's remarkable achievements in the economic and social domains are widely recognized. Ashgabat's commitment to a policy of positive neutrality is a crucial element in enhancing security and stability in both Central Asia and the Caspian region," Putin expressed in his congratulatory message.

 

He further emphasized that Russia places great significance on its deepened strategic partnership with Turkmenistan. "I am confident that together, we can foster the continued growth of our fruitful bilateral cooperation across all domains and engage in constructive collaboration on international matters, all for the betterment of our friendly nations," stated the Russian leader.

 

Putin extended his wishes for Berdimuhamedov's good health and success, while also conveying his hopes for happiness and prosperity for all citizens of Turkmenistan.

 

Turkmenistan marks the 32nd anniversary of its independence on September 27. The nation attained sovereignty in 1991 when the Supreme Soviet of the Turkmen SSR enacted the constitutional law "On Independence and Foundations of the State Structure of Turkmenistan" following a national referendum.
