Putin: The Situation in Gaza Causes Heartache for Most People Worldwide

24 October

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza resonates painfully with the overwhelming majority of people around the world, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The humanitarian disaster in Gaza is a particularly tragic situation. Everything happening there cannot help but break the hearts of most people on the planet,” Putin remarked during the BRICS+ outreach meeting following the speech of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Earlier, the Russian leader mentioned that the escalation in the Middle East has resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 people in Gaza alone, with the majority of those killed being civilians.

On October 7, 2023, following an attack by fighters from the Palestinian Hamas movement, Israel launched a military operation. However, rather than resolving the situation, it has only deepened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israeli forces have continued to target sites and leaders of all factions opposing the Jewish state, extending the conflict to varying degrees into Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran.
