The situation in Libya is developing in the right direction, there is a chance to achieve stability, the reduction of the armed presence should be carried out thoughtfully, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin told reporters in Berlin on Wednesday at the end of the second Berlin conference on Libya.
"We believe that the situation, in general, is going in the right direction," he said. - "All those decisions taken at the level of the international community, including the [UN] Security Council, and by the Libyans themselves, contribute to this."
The armed presence in Libya "should be reduced" and "it should be done thoughtfully," Vershinin noted.
"We believe the situation is relatively stable, both in the eastern and western parts of the country," he added. He also stressed the importance of Libya's presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 24, 2021.
