Russia calls on the parties to the conflict in Libya to prevent a new round of escalation and immediately cease fire, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"We call on the warring Libyan camps to prevent a new round of escalation of the situation, for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire. And, of course, to launch an inclusive political dialogue based on UN Security Council resolutions," Zakharova said during a weekly briefing.
According to the diplomat, the situation on the ground remains tense, and according to some reports, "the warring Libyan sides just took a pause to regroup forces to resume armed confrontation."
