Russia Endorses Turkey's Proposal for Ukraine Peace Platform

08 July

The Russian Federation has expressed support for Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's call for an international peace platform to facilitate a resolution to the Ukrainian conflict.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia agrees with Fidan's assertion that such a platform, with broad participation, is crucial to resolving the conflict.

"As you know, President Putin is a strong advocate for diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the Ukrainian conflict," - Peskov stated. - "We have never shied away from negotiations. In fact, we have consistently favored a negotiation process involving all relevant parties. Until such a platform exists, we can only agree with Mr. Fidan on this point."

Fidan's visit to Russia in June included participation in a meeting of BRICS+ foreign ministers in Nizhny Novgorod. He also held discussions with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, and Russian Security Council Secretary, Sergei Shoigu.

Sources indicate that the meetings centered on the Ukrainian conflict, as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip and Syria.
