Russia is actively working on lifting visa regimes with Islamic countries, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters on Thursday in the margins of the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum".
"There is an active work. In general, our intention is to cancel the visa regime, because it is very important for tourism and business," - said Bogdanov. - "Here, of course, a special place is given to the Islamic world - and the Arab and many African countries, which are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation."
The high-ranking diplomat noted that similar work is going on with Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. "In general, we will move in this direction and have already done a lot of work," he stressed.
"There is cooperation in this direction in the Persian Gulf countries," Bogdanov continued. - "And, of course, with the countries - our traditional partners - Syria, Iraq, Egypt. A lot has already been done. And we expect to do even more."
