Russia will not participate in the Council of Europe

The Russian Federation is not going to participate in the Council of Europe, because the EU and NATO countries, unfriendly to Russia, continue their policy of destroying the organization and the common humanitarian legal space in Europe. This was said in a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry issued on Thursday.

The diplomatic office noted that the EU and NATO member states unfriendly to Russia, abusing their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE), continue "their policy of destroying the Council of Europe and the common humanitarian-legal space in Europe."

"Russia will not participate in the transformation of Europe's oldest organization by the NATO and the EU, which obediently follows them, into another platform for spells of Western superiority and narcissism. Let them enjoy communicating with each other without Russia," pointed out the ministry.

The Russian MFA stressed that the course of events "is becoming irreversible." "Russia does not intend to tolerate these subversive actions carried out by the collective West in line with the imposition of a 'rules-based order' to replace the international law trampled by the United States and its satellites," the document said.
