Russia will persist in drawing international attention to Ukraine's support of terrorism in Mali, according to a statement from Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"On August 4, the transitional government of Mali announced the immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. This decision followed statements from Ukrainian officials, including Andrei Yusov, spokesperson for the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, and Ambassador to Senegal Yuri Pivovarov, regarding Ukraine's support for terrorist forces involved in an attack on a Malian military convoy in late July," Zakharova emphasized. "Russia will continue to highlight Ukraine’s actions on global platforms. We will keep drawing the international community's attention, including in multilateral forums, to this egregious behavior by Kiev."
Zakharova also criticized Ukraine's regime, claiming that its actions are increasingly perceived as terrorist in nature. "Unable to achieve victory on the battlefield, Vladimir Zelensky's regime has sought to open a 'second front' in Africa by supporting terrorist groups in countries friendly to Moscow," she stated.
The spokesperson expressed understanding for Mali's decision to sever ties with Ukraine. "It is not surprising that Kiev is cooperating with terrorists, given its use of similar methods against Russia, including sabotage, political assassinations, and attacks on civilian infrastructure," Zakharova added.
