Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, who also serves as the chairman of the kingdom's Council of Ministers, as reported by the Kremlin press service.
"The Crown Prince expressed his gratitude to the Russian side for the consistent support of Saudi Arabia's application to join BRICS," the report reads.
"In response, the Russian President warmly congratulated the Saudi leadership on the decision made at the association's summit in Johannesburg in this regard. He also shared insights into the priorities of the Russian presidency in BRICS for 2024," the Kremlin noted.
High assessment of cooperation in OPEC+
Russia and Saudi Arabia hold a high regard for their cooperation within the OPEC+ framework.
"Both countries highly praised their collaboration within the OPEC+ framework. They emphasized that the agreements related to oil production reduction, combined with voluntary commitments to restrict the supply of raw materials, contribute significantly to maintaining stability in the global energy market," the report indicates.
Maintaining bilateral ties
Vladimir Putin and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud agreed to maintain ongoing personal communication, as reported by the Kremlin press service.
"It has been agreed to continue personal contacts," the statement said following a telephone conversation between the Russian president and the Saudi crown prince.
Putin and his counterpart also expressed satisfaction with the progress in their multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia. During their phone conversation, they "discussed various pertinent matters regarding the enhancement of collaboration in trade, economics, transportation, logistics, and investment," as stated by the Kremlin.
