Dmitriy Polyanskiy, Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, condemned Israel and Ukraine, accusing them of violating international humanitarian law and humanity itself.
"Ukraine and Israel are unequivocally engaged in a battle against humanity and international humanitarian law," Polyanskiy said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Polyanskiy vowed to stand with the United Nations in opposing Israel's portrayal of civilian casualties in Gaza as part of an anti-terrorism campaign, which Russia views as a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law. He drew parallels to Ukraine's past efforts to justify civilian casualties in Donbass as necessary actions against terrorists, a justification ultimately rejected by the International Court of Justice.
Polyanskiy also criticized former Israeli ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan's remarks, dismissing them as "delirium." Erdan had likened Russia's actions in Ukraine to Hamas attacks on Israel. Polyanskiy condemned Erdan's statement as part of a pattern of baseless accusations, stating, "The delusion continues... A week ago, the Israeli representative claimed 'the United Nations is Hamas.' Today, he claims Russia is Hamas."
