The occurrence of serious incidents has not been allowed during the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated on Monday at an enlarged meeting of the Defense Ministry collegium by the head of the ministry, Sergei Shoigu.
"To date, not a single serious incident has been allowed. The safe movement of civilian vehicles through the Lachin corridor has been opened and maintained," he said.
According to Shoigu, an exchange of prisoners of war was organized between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides under the guidance of Russian peacekeepers on the principle "all for all." An exchange of bodies of those killed was also organized.
A peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh has been carried out in accordance with trilateral agreements since November 10. As of today, the group of Russian troops deployed 23 observation posts in the designated areas.
"The civilians are returning in complete safety to their areas of residence and restoring their homes. They are assisted by servicemen of the Center for Peacekeeping Operations Management. Since November 14 Russian peacekeepers have secured the return of over 42,000 refugees," the defense minister said.
Russian peacekeepers also carry out the de-mining of the territory of Nagorno Karabakh, as of today over 6 thousand explosive objects have been deactivated.
