Volodin Criticizes Blinken's Statement on Raisi's Death as Cynical and Inhumane

23 May

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has criticized US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's remarks regarding the death of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi, labeling them as cynical and inhumane.

"US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's statement that the whole world and the Iranians themselves have only won as a result of Raisi's tragic death is both cynical and inhuman," Volodin stated on his Telegram channel.

Volodin argued that only someone from a regime that perceives itself as exceptional could make such a comment. He highlighted that this "boorish attitude" angers citizens of other countries. "Due to Washington's policies, the word 'American' will soon become a derogatory term worldwide," emphasized the State Duma chairman.

Previously, Blinken had made a statement during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, asserting that despite official condolences, the US does not mourn the death of the Iranian president. According to him, the people of Iran are probably better off after the death of their president.
