Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin conducted a meeting with Kuwait's Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah Al-Jaberah Al-Sabah, to deliberate on the development of inter-parliamentary relations between the two nations, alongside addressing the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip, as reported on the House of Parliament's website.
During the meeting, Volodin voiced Russia's deep concern regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized Russia's commitment to this matter by stating, "For our part, we have adopted an appeal to the United Nations on the inadmissibility of bombings resulting in civilian casualties, including children, women, and the elderly."
Volodin underscored the importance of enhancing the parliamentary dimension of relations between Russia and Kuwait to complement the existing relations at the leadership level. He reiterated Russia's guiding principles in its relations with other nations, which encompass mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. Volodin also highlighted the challenges facing the international community, particularly the weakening of United Nations institutions and the pressing need to reinforce them. He further elaborated on the consequences of attempting to build a unipolar world, leading to an array of challenges and threats.
Additionally, Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed warm greetings and an official invitation to Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Sadoun to visit Russia.
In response, Kuwait's Foreign Minister expressed the strength of the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Russia, commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties established between Kuwait and the USSR this year. He conveyed his unwavering confidence in Russia's significant role in addressing global crises and challenges, stating, "At today's stage, the world is experiencing serious challenges and threats. I am confident that Russia will play a very important role in countering and fighting various crises at the global level."
