Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin met with President Ilham Aliyev during his official visit to Azerbaijan. He passed on to Aliyev the words of greetings and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are developing successfully in many respects thanks to the efforts of our presidents," Volodin noted.
In addition, Volodin stressed that the State Duma and the Milli Mejlis (parliament) need to work on legislative support for the implementation of the Declaration on allied cooperation between the countries. "We will look for new formats to offer solutions to issues that are strategic for both countries," he added.
The president of Azerbaijan, in turn, expressed his hope to continue inter-parliamentary contacts with the Russian Federation, including at international platforms.
