A batch of humanitarian aid, which consists of 200,000 doses of Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik Light, will arrive from Russia to Kyrgyzstan on November 12, the Russian embassy in Kyrgyzstan told TASS on Thursday.
"A batch of 200,000 doses of Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik Light will arrive in Bishkek on November 12," an embassy representative said. According to him, the Russian government allocated $1.2 million to buy this batch of Sputnik Light as part of its donation to Kyrgyzstan to fight the spread of COVID-19.
The humanitarian cargo is expected to arrive at Manas International Airport in the Kyrgyz capital on Friday afternoon.
In April-May this year Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with 20 thousand doses of the vaccine Sputnik V and in June this year 80 thousand more doses were bought by the Kyrgyz side.
Mass vaccination in Kyrgyzstan began in the spring of 2021, using several drugs, including Sputnik V and a vaccine from the Chinese company Sinopharm. Both vaccine doses have been given to date to 800,000 citizens of the republic. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the country, a population of about 6.5 million people, almost 182,000 people have been infected with coronavirus infection, 176,500 of them have recovered, 2,697 patients died from complications.
