On 7 June, the conference, “Traditional Values and Media in a Multipolar World”, was held at the Faculty of World Politics with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Group of Strategic Vision «Russia – Islamic World» and the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the State Duma of Russia. The conference was co-organized by the Mohamed bin Zayed Humanitarian University. The event was attended by students and professors from the Faculty of World Politics, Mohamed bin Zayed University, Cairo University, Carthage University, Kazan federal University and Astrakhan State University named after V. N. Tatishchev.
The conference began with a plenary session, which included welcoming speeches by:

Belikova, moderator, senior lecturer at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Moscow State Institute of International Relations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, founder of the “Orientalists Club”, advisor of the Group of Strategic Vision «Russia – Islamic World», head of the Protocol Department of the External Communications Service of RT TV Chanel;
Radwan El-Sayed, dean of the College of Postgraduate Education and Research, Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities;
Dr. L. E. Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, president of the Faculty of World Politics at Lomonosov Moscow State University;
N. V. Taratynova, acting permanent representative of Russia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation;
Senator F. M. Mukhametshin, deputy chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision «Russia – Islamic World», deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs;
T. V. Skorospelova, Ph.D. in History, associate professor, deputy dean for Master’s Programme, Faculty of World Politics, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
As noted in the welcoming address by L. E. Slutsky, the aim of this conference is ‘to lay the foundations for the creation of an inter-university online platform that will promote dialogue and exchange of eminent experience, uniting students and professors of leading universities in Russia and the Arab world’. The importance of building inter-university and intercultural partnership became the central theme of the conference opening and was reflected both in the welcome speech by the moderator of the discussion, A. A. Belikova, and in the welcome speech by Radwan El-Sayed. Professor El-Sayed separately emphasized the importance of the mutual principle of mutual respect of cultures for Islam. N.V. Taratynova in her speech highlighted the special importance of scientific and technical cooperation between Russia and OIC countries. F. M. Mukhametshin noted the importance of intercultural dialogue in the current complex international environment. T. V. Skorospelova devoted her speech to the current projects of the Faculty of World Politics aimed at developing bilateral partnership and the prospects for their further development.
During the panel discussion, “Traditional Values and Media in a Multipolar World”, professors, researchers and media experts discussed the impact of digitalization on the process of intercultural interaction, digital diplomacy and various aspects of media landscape of Eastern countries. The discussion was moderated by T. G. Dobrosklonskaya, doctor of philology, professor at the Department of Foreign Policy Information Support.
During the closing session of the conference, “Traditional Values and Media: Young Researchers’ View”, students of the Faculty of World Politics, Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, Astrakhan State University named after V. N. Tatishchev and Kazan federal University presented the results of their research on the importance of traditional values in modern media agenda and media diplomacy. The session was moderated by A. A. Pavlyuchenko, lecturer at the Foreign Policy Information Support Department.
