Abbas Emphasizes the Urgency of Establishing Permanent Aid Delivery Corridors to Gaza

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized the urgent need for establishing permanent humanitarian corridors to deliver aid to the people of the Gaza Strip during a telephone conversation with Pope Francis on Thursday evening.

 

"The president emphasized the urgency of establishing permanent humanitarian corridors to deliver medicine, food, water, and electricity to the Gaza Strip," reported the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

 

Abbas condemned Israel's "attacks on innocent civilians in their homes, hospitals, and schools, as well as the destruction of buildings that house people." He stated, "These actions constitute heinous crimes that must be stopped immediately." Additionally, Abbas emphasized "the need to end the terrorism of [Jewish] settlers against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem."

 

"President Abbas also reiterated his firm rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. He emphasized the importance of reaching a political settlement based on international legitimacy to achieve freedom, independence, and sovereignty for the Palestinian people," as noted by  WAFA.
