Abdulatipov: Russia must restore the influence that the USSR had in the Arab world

The influence that the Soviet Union had in the Arab world must be restored, Ramazan Abdulatipov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic cooperation said today, speaking at the international video conference "At the origins of modern diplomatic relations with the Islamic world: the life and fate of Karim Khakimov and Nazir Torekulov", said 


Now, according to him, the Russian authorities, including the country's President Vladimir Putin, are doing a lot in this direction.
Prominent Soviet diplomats Karimov and Torekulov, as noted by Abdulatipov, were, in fact, the first representatives of the Soviet Union in the Arab world.


Karim Khakimov was a Soviet diplomat, the first Plenipotentiary Representative of Soviet Russia in the Arab countries, who made a significant contribution to the establishment of good relations between the young Soviet Republic and the Arab-Persian world.  


Nazir Torekulov is a Soviet party and statesman, diplomat, representative of the USSR in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1928-1936), publicist, philologist.


Their contribution to the development of Soviet diplomacy, in particular in the Arab world, is being discussed today at an international conference organized by the Permanent mission of Russia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) together with the Russian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the Group of Strategic Visio "Russia-Islamic world", as well as the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Russian Federation's accession to the Organization of the Islamic Conference.


The conference is attended by Ramazan Abdulatipov, Russia's permanent representative to the OIC, Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy Chairman of the GSV "Russia-Islamic world", Radiy Khabirov, head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Askar Musinov, Deputy Secretary-General of the OIC, and others.
