About 2.5 million refugees in Syria have been able to return home thanks to the efforts of the Syrian and Russian sides. This was stated on Friday in a joint statement of the interagency coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria.

"The interagency coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria continue focused work to assist Syrian citizens in voluntary and safe return to their homeland and create decent living conditions on the territory of the republic. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Syrian and Russian sides,  2,435,508 Syrians have returned to their homeland up to now," the statement said.

It also specified that the Syrian state pays special attention to boosting production in the spheres of agriculture, industry and handicrafts.

Privileges are given to large businesses supporting medium and small investment projects.

The statement also said that since the devastating earthquake in February this year, the Syrian state has been doing its best to deal with the consequences of the disaster. Benefits are being given to the victims, and soft loans worth 200 million Syrian liras are being given to speed up the reconstruction of homes. Also on May 1, a decree was issued to establish a national fund to support the victims.

The statement was signed by Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov and Hussein Makhlouf, heads of interagency coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria.
