About 600 Russian servicemen will take part in the "Rubezh-2022" exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that started on Monday in Tajikistan. The core of the Russian contingent is the Central Military District (CMD), the joint press center of the CSTO exercise said on Tuesday.
"About 600 Russian servicemen will take part in the joint exercise with the Central Asian region's Collective Rapid Deployment Forces "Rubezh-2022" in Tajikistan. The core of the Russian contingent consists of servicemen of the Central Military District from the 201st military base, more than 150 units of weapons, special and military equipment will be involved," the report says.
The exercise "Rubezh-2022" takes place from October 10 to 21. On Monday the press center of the exercise reported that the contingents of the CSTO countries are sent to Tajikistan.
The active phase of the exercise will take place from October 17 to 21. During the exercise, the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces in Central Asia will practice combat operations against illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state. It is planned that the total number of participants in the exercises in Tajikistan will be about 1,000 people.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside Russia. It is located in two cities, Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, air defense and communications units.
