Academician Timur Eneev who helped Gagarin return from space has passed away

11 September 2019

Russian academician Timur Eneev died at the age of 95 on September 8, but it became known about the death of the famous scientist only now.

Eneev was born in Grozny on 23 September 1924. In the 1950s, he studied attitude control of a multistage rocket. The results of his calculations were subsequently used in the launch of the first artificial earth satellite in 1957.

In addition, the data obtained by Eneev on the change in the orbit of the satellite during the flight in the upper atmosphere showed that the overload and high temperature during the descent from orbit would not harm the astronaut. This discovery made it possible to put the first man in space – in 1961 Yuri Gagarin went up there.

The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov expressed condolences to the family of the academician, saying that one of the streets in Grozny will be named after Timur Eneev.
