05 February

Approximately 100,000 individuals displaced from southern Lebanon due to the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East and the confrontations between Israel and the Shiite militia Hezbollah require urgent assistance, Lebanon's Acting Foreign Minister Bou Habib said during a meeting with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

"The situation in southern Lebanon is dire, with around 100,000 displaced residents needing immediate support and attention. We  welcome any assistance that the International Committee of the Red Cross can provide," Bou Habib emphasized.

The Naharnet news portal reported that since October 7, 2023, over 2,000 rockets and 350 kamikaze drones have been launched from Lebanon towards Israel. This has resulted in the deaths of 12 soldiers and 7 settlers, with 170 others injured. In southern Lebanon alone, 39 civilians have been killed by Israeli attacks since the onset of the military escalation. Additionally, Hezbollah forces have suffered 173 casualties during border operations.
