Active phase of CSTO "Rubezh-2022" exercise started in Tajikistan

The active phase of joint maneuvers with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF) "Rubezh-2022" began on Monday in Tajikistan. This was reported to TASS in the joint press center of the CSTO exercises.


"The active phase of the joint exercise with the Central Asian region's Collective Rapid Deployment Forces "Rubezh-2022" began today at the Kharb-Maidon training range in Tajikistan," the report said. - "Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda, the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, the head of the CSTO Joint Staff, Tahir Khairulloyev, the CSTO Deputy Secretary-General, representatives of the armed forces of the CSTO Central Asian Collective Security Region participated in the opening ceremony of the exercise."


According to the joint press center, military contingents of member countries of the Central Asian region, task forces of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat take part in the practical actions at the Kharb-Maidon training range. The core of the Russian contingent consists of servicemen of the Central Military District from the 201st Military Base. The total number of participants in the exercise is about 1,000 people and more than 300 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The subject of the exercise is the training and conduct of combat operations by the CSTO CRDF to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.


Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exercise, Sidorov noted that created in 2001 against the background of an increasing international terrorist threat, the CSTO CRDF does not lose relevance and is an important component of the system of collective security of the CSTO. According to him, in the course of the exercise, a set of training and combat tasks for the preparation and conduct of a joint operation by the Central Asian republics of the CSTO will be practiced. "The units will perform special tasks to eliminate illegal armed formations in the mountainous terrain, release captured objects, conduct combat and special actions to restore the section of the state border," he said.


The first deputy defense minister of Tajikistan stressed that under the conditions of dynamically developing situation in the entire CSTO area and concentration of destabilizing factors near the borders, the timely and full functioning of mechanisms of crisis response and, in particular, of its military component is becoming increasingly important and urgent. "Along with the negative trends observed in all regions of collective security, of particular concern is the situation emerging on the southern borders of the Central Asian region in neighboring Afghanistan," he pointed out.
