Afghan Ambassador: Kabul practically does not receive information from the United States about negotiations with the Taliban

17 May 2019

The United States provides the official Afghan Authorities with insufficient information about negotiations with the radical Taliban movement. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Washington, Roya Rahmani stated about it.

According to her, Washington’s policy regarding the Taliban (banned in the Russian Federation) remains uncertain for the Afghan Government - the content and latest results of the dialogue between the Taliban and the United States remain unknown to Kabul.

It is known that last week in Doha ended the sixth round of negotiations with the participation of Representatives of Washington and the Taliban, at which the terms of the peace agreement were discussed.

The results have not been yet published by the US authorities. The US Special Envoy for Afghan reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad claimed only that the peace process was not progressing fast enough.
