Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is closed

The prayer halls of the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem are temporarily closed in order to counter the spread of the coronavirus, Palestinian MAAN news agency reports with reference to the Director of the Mosque Omar al-Kiswani.


The decision to close the Muslim temple, according to him, was made by the Office of Islamic waqfs. Prayers will be held in the courtyard of the mosque.


According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, the number of diagnosed cases of coronavirus in Israel has reached 200, the condition of two people is assessed as difficult. In Palestine, 35 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded.


According to the latest data, more than 153 thousand people are infected with the coronavirus in the world, more than 5.7 thousand died. 63 cases of infection have been registered in Russia.
