Al-Assad accepted Putin's offer of help with earthquake aftermath

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad on Monday after an earthquake with numerous victims in that country as well as Turkey, the Kremlin press service said.

 

 

"Putin expressed his sincere condolences for the consequences of the earthquake in northern Syria, which caused numerous human casualties, and offered to provide the Syrian side with the necessary assistance in dealing with the aftermath of the disaster," the statement said.

 

"Bashar al-Assad gratefully accepted the offer, and the Russian EMERECOM rescuers will fly to Syria within a few hours,"  the Kremlin specified.
