Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud during a meeting in Damascus discussed efforts to comprehensively resolve the Syrian conflict, the Saudi MFA said in a statement released Tuesday.
"The two sides discussed the steps needed to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis, which will allow overcoming all the consequences [of the conflict] and achieving national reconciliation, and will facilitate [Syria's] return to the Arab community and the restoration of its traditional role in the Arab world," the text reads.
The Saudi foreign minister reportedly spoke in favor of creating the necessary conditions for the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the republic.
"His Highness the Foreign Minister, during his talks with the President of Syria, stressed the importance of creating proper conditions for the delivery of aid to all regions of Syria, as well as for the return of Syrian refugees and [internally] displaced individuals to their homes," the document stated.
