Algeria bought Russian fighters for $2 billion

10 September 2019

Algeria bought from Russia 30 fighters, including 16 Sukhoi Su-30MKI (A) and 14 medium Mikoyan MiG-29/M2.

As with reference to the authoritative Algerian blog MenaDefense and its own sources the newspaper "Vedomosti" reports, the contracts to purchase were signed following the visit of Algerian delegation to Zhukovsky at MAKS-2019, which took place in late August.

The total amount of contracts is estimated at $ 2 billion.

It is noted that the new aircraft will partially replace the outdated Soviet-made MiG-29, which were supplied to the country about 20 years ago.
