Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian president's special representative for the Middle East and Africa and deputy foreign minister, presented Mohamed Sherif Kourta, who leaves the post of Algerian ambassador to Moscow, with a lapel badge of the Russian foreign ministry on Thursday for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

"Mohamed Sherif Kourta was presented with the lapel badge "For interaction" of the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation, which he was awarded for his significant personal contribution to the development of relations between Russia and Algeria," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

The ministry noted that during the conversation the mutual intention of Moscow and Algeria for further development of the whole range of traditionally friendly relations between the two countries in accordance with the Declaration on strategic partnership of 2001 was confirmed.

"Satisfaction was expressed with the sustained constructive political dialogue on the key issues of the international and regional agenda, as well as the state of cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and other areas," the Russian foreign ministry added.

Mohamed Sherif Kourta was appointed as the republic's ambassador to Russia in 2019.
