Azerbaijani and Turkish Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the results of a trilateral meeting in Sochi and the situation in the region at talks in Samarkand, the press service of the Azerbaijani leader said on Friday.
"A meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was held on November 10. The sides stressed the successful development of friendly and fraternal ties between the countries based on allied relations in all areas, discussed the situation in the region and security issues, and exchanged views on the results of the Sochi meeting," the statement said.
Aliyev and Erdogan are in Samarkand, where the summit of the Organization of Turkic States kicked off on Thursday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held talks in Sochi on October 31 on the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. Following the talks, the leaders of the three countries signed a joint statement that, among other things, emphasized the mediating role of the Russian Federation and the contribution of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to maintaining peace in the region.
