Aliyev: Armenia must fulfill basic principles of Karabakh conflict settlement

09 October 2020

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the nation on Friday that Armenia should adopt the basic principles for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and leave the captured Azerbaijani territories.

"Armenia should accept the basic principles for settling the conflict and leave the occupied territories. The only salvation way for them is to leave our territories. We have repeatedly proposed [Yerevan] to implement UN Security Council resolutions. We have declared that Azerbaijan will not tolerate the situation," he said. Aliyev stressed that today the battles are taking place along the entire front line. "Azerbaijan is strengthening its positions in all directions. We are forcing the aggressor to peace. This is the main goal of the operation," he said.

Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan would return its lands by any means, but wants to do it peacefully and gives Armenia "last chance".

He also noted that the meeting of foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow would bring clarity to many issues.
