Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev urged not to worry about the fate of Christian temples in the territories in Karabakh that have passed under Baku's control, stressing that all of them are the historical heritage of the country. The text of his speech was published on Tuesday by the state news agency AZERTAC.

"Today, after the end of the war, some Western leaders raise the question of what will happen to Christian churches in the lands that have passed under the control of Azerbaijan and express concern both during conversations with me and in official statements. Let no one worry, especially the leaders of Western countries, who foment Islamophobic feelings, turn a blind eye to the desecration of Islamic sanctities and even justify those who do it. All the temples on our territories are our historical heritage," Aliyev said while visiting the Agdam district on Monday, which passed under Baku's control on November 20 according to a trilateral statement by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The President of Azerbaijan stressed that all historical monuments in the country are protected by the state. In particular, according to him, two Orthodox churches are currently being repaired at the expense of state funds, and another one has already been repaired.

Aliyev urged Western leaders not to interfere in Azerbaijan's affairs.
