31 October 2022

The normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia can be reached on the basis of the five basic principles proposed by Baku. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said this on Monday at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

"Azerbaijan has relatively recently put forward five basic principles on which relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia should be normalized. These are all fundamental principles of international law, and I think normalization can be achieved on this basis," the Azerbaijani leader said.

It's time to act

The Azerbaijani president believes that it is time to act in the direction of normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.

"Now is the time to talk and act in the direction of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia," Aliyev said. He stressed that he highly appreciated the personal role of the Russian head of state in this matter.

Azerbaijan counts on Russia's further active role in achieving normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.
