Ambassador: Iran has offered US assistance in the fight against coronavirus

13 April 2020

Despite its hostility to Iran, Tehran is ready to help the United States in the fight against the coronavirus, Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic to Russia, told Izvestia.

"In fact, fighting the spread of the coronavirus and curbing the disease is the protection of the entire human community. Given that this virus knows no borders, the fight against it also needs to unite the efforts of all countries. The Islamic Republic, even in relation to the United States, which is clearly hostile to us - imposed illegal and inhumane sanctions against Iran - expressed its readiness to provide the people of this country with its assistance in the fight against the coronavirus," the diplomat said.

Iran, in turn, according to Jalali, has already received assistance from a number of states, including Russia, which delivered medical masks, mechanical ventilation devices (ventilators) and diagnostic test systems to the Islamic Republic.
