Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva said on Friday that Baku and Yerevan could conclude a peace agreement next week during a summit of the European political community.
"We hope that a peace agreement can finally be signed on June 1 in Chisinau," the diplomat told Reuters. - "This is a historic moment and momentum that should not be missed."
Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan are expected to hold talks on the sidelines of the summit with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to diplomatic sources.
Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan confirmed Thursday that Yerevan and Baku have agreed to mutually recognize each other's territorial integrity.
During a press conference in Yerevan on Monday, Pashinyan said that he would recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which includes Nagorno-Karabakh, but on condition of ensuring the safety of the Armenian population.
