The coronavirus pandemic has not affected the process of resolving the Yemeni conflict, and the parties are planning to hold talks online in the near future, Russian Ambassador to Yemen Vladimir Dedushkin told TASS.
"Not everything has stopped. Despite the pandemic, the Yemeni process is in progress. If we ignore the military actions that are continuing in various parts of the country, then, in general, the parties to the conflict are ready to negotiate. The main work is currently being done by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Martin Griffiths, who is in contact with both the Houthis and representatives of the Yemeni government… In the near future, it is planned to resume inter-Yemeni negotiations in the format of a video conference," the agency quotes the diplomat as saying.
The situation in Yemen, according to Dedushkin, continues to be tense, and the main task now is a cease-fire throughout the country.
