The US Navy P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft made another reconnaissance flight near the coast of Syria and the Russian Hmeimim air base and the Russian Navy logistics base in the port of Tartus located there. This, according to Interfax, is evidenced by monitoring data from Western aviation resources.

According to their information, the American aircraft, which took off from the Sigonella air base on the Italian island of Sicily, for more than an hour and a half circled near Syria. In the area of Russian bases, it was approaching the Syrian coast at a distance of about 45 km.

The flight was performed at  8,5 thousand meters above the international waters of the Mediterranean sea. A similar flight near Russian bases in Syria was recorded a few days earlier.

On April 19, it was reported that the Russian SU-35 fighter jet, from the Hmeimim air base, intercepted the American P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft over the neutral waters of the Mediterranean sea, when it came too close to  Russian bases in Syria.
