Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko called his participation in the 10th meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia - Islamic World” (GSV), which took place on December 11, 2024 in Malaysia, an interesting experience. According to the Deputy Minister, the past event is a unique platform for interfaith dialogue, where representatives of various religions can meet and discuss issues of concern to them that are on the agenda of all mankind.
"Representatives of Islamic countries, including the Middle East, participated. Much was said about the events in this region: the tragedy in Gaza and the consequences of what is happening in Syria", - Rudenko noted. The central speech was by Rais of Tatarstan and the Chairman of the GSV Rustam Minnikhanov, in which, according to the Deputy Minister, the tasks facing the Group were clearly and distinctly stated. These are long-term goals, and, according to Rudenko, should work to strengthen interreligious peace and tranquility.
"Russia traditionally advocates for the development of cooperation", - said a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. At the same time, the location of the platforms for discussing cooperation is secondary. Rudenko also emphasized the important role of the participation of "Islamic minds", as he put it. Especially in conditions where there are signs of radicalism of certain teachings, including in Islam, but not only in it.
“When the best ‘Islamic minds’ gather in one place and exchange experiences in countering extremism and conveying key messages to ordinary people, this is very important and relevant now”, - the deputy minister shared his opinion.
As already noted, Andrey Rudenko represented the Russian Foreign Ministry at the meeting of the GSV. In his speech, the diplomat conveyed to the participants a welcoming speech on behalf of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The Foreign Ministry representative also noted that Russia and the Islamic countries are united by a firm commitment to the natural right to determine their own paths of development. Rudenko also recalled Russia's conviction that peace in the entire Middle East can only be ensured by implementing the UN-approved formula, which provides for the formation of an independent Palestinian state.
