Turkey will continue its efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine through diplomacy and negotiations, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday.

"We will continue our efforts to end the war through diplomacy and to address its negative consequences on a regional and global scale," he said, speaking at a meeting of the Turkish-American National Coordination Committee in New York. Anadolu Agency quoted the president as saying.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republics. After that, the US, the European Union, the UK, as well as a number of other countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. In addition, Western countries stepped up arms deliveries to Kiev worth billions of dollars.
