Another meeting of Palestinian political forces to take place in Moscow

04 February 2020

Another meeting of representatives of various Palestinian political forces may take place in Moscow, similar to several negotiations of Palestinian factions held earlier in the Russian capital. This was announced by the Palestinian Ambassador to Russia, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, while discussing the American plan for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement.

"The "deal of the century" is stillborn; it will never find support among Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims. Many countries that support the creation of a Palestinian state have not recognized the deal. This is part of the election campaign of Trump and Netanyahu", RIA Novosti quoted a Palestinian diplomat as saying.

Palestine, according to Nofal, insists on convening a new conference on the Arab-Israeli settlement, "with a new international mechanism where Russia will play a leading role, and will never accept any American sponsorship of the peace process".

US President Donald Trump announced the details of the "deal of the century" on January 28. According to the document, Jerusalem is recognized as the unified and indivisible capital of Israel, and Palestine becomes a fully independent, but demilitarized state, virtually devoid of control over its borders.

As the future capital of Palestine, the plan proposes the village of Abu Dis in the Eastern suburbs of Jerusalem, located behind a security fence.

Palestine categorically rejected the US plan. Statements about the unacceptability of the document were made by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.
