Russia expects that regular contacts with the US military on Syria will continue under the administration of new President Joe Biden, Moscow also considers it useful to identify areas where Russia and the US could establish cooperation, the Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, told RIA Novosti.
"We assume that in Syria our countries' militaries will continue regular contacts in order to prevent incidents," he said.
"In addition, it would be useful to identify areas where Russia and the US could establish cooperation. For example, humanitarian assistance, post-conflict reconstruction, demining, facilitating the return of refugees and internally displaced persons, and counterterrorism. We are ready for such cooperation, provided, of course, that we respect the sovereignty of the SAR," the Russian diplomat added.
