Ariana Afghan Airlines operates first Kabul-Moscow flight in 2022

26 April 2022

Afghanistan's national airline Ariana Afghan Airlines has made its first direct flight from Kabul to Moscow in 2022, the Russian embassy in Kabul announced on its official Twitter page on Tuesday.

"On April 25, the Afghan national carrier Ariana made its first direct flight between Kabul and Moscow in 2022. It is planned that the airline's regular flights from Kabul to Moscow will depart weekly on Mondays and from Moscow to Kabul - on Tuesdays," the statement said.

Afghanistan's air communication with the outside world was interrupted at the end of August 2021 after the Taliban radical movement (banned in the Russian Federation) came to power. By mid-September, the airport of Kabul was gradually returned to a working condition after the chaos in connection with the mass evacuation of employees of the embassies of Western countries, the citizens of these countries and Afghans who cooperated with the Western coalition.
