Syria is interested not only in missiles but also in weapons for fighting "on the ground", President Bashar al-Assad told RIA Novosti.
"We have priorities, it is not necessarily about missiles. At present, there may be other priorities in the matter of fight "on the ground". We have a full-scale plan, but we have to act in accordance with priorities," Assad said when asked whether Syria is interested in supplying of S-400 or S-300 SAMs.
According to him, the plan to modernize the Syrian army began two years ago.
"Obviously, we are going to carry out this modernization in cooperation with the Russian Defense Ministry, because for several decades now our army has been fully relying on Russian arms," the Syrian president added.
